Screening on the B2B TPS file

Following an extensive consultation the DTI confirmed that TPS will be extended to cover businesses when they issued The Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations. The Regulations came into effect in December 2003, and the extension of TPS to business will take effect on 1st May 2004. This means that businesses will be able to register their telephone numbers on the TPS file, protecting them from receiving unsolicited telephone calls from companies promoting their goods and services.

Companies that use the telephone to prospect for business will need to comply with these regulations, and ensure that they do not contact any numbers registered with the TPS. Failure to do this can result in fines of up to £5,000 per complaint.

B2B tps is a an automated call screening service from UK Data IT and Opal Telecom, which will screen the telephone calls you are making against the Business TPS file. If a call is made to a number on the file, the call is intercepted and barred. This will ensure your compliance with the new regulations, and will mean that you can continue tele-marketing as you have always done, and not have to implement data screening policies or manage opt-out lists.

The legislation currently dictates that the data you are calling from will need to be screened against the Business TPS file every 28 days, the B2B tps service is updated every 7 days ensuring you stay ahead of legislation.

By employing the B2B tps system you can be sure that all outbound sales and marketing calls will be screened against the most up to date Business TPS file, protecting your company from the possibility of fines, prosecution without the need to change your business processes.

B2B tps can be set up from any BT line in the UK, for further information on the system, please contact UK Data IT on 0800 083 1138
