Aim

To prevent unwanted telemarketing calls from being made to the bereaved families in the immediate days and weeks following the loss of a close relative

Objectives

• For the service to be free to the bereaved family.
• For registration to quick, simple and effective.
• For the costs of the system to be kept to a minimum, allowing telemarketing companies low cost access

All calls from subscribing telemarketing companies are intercepted and barred

Benefits

• Immediate registration to the system, unwanted calls to the individual could start being intercepted within 48 hours.
• Allows participating companies to make calls from all data sources in the knowledge that they will not be upsetting the recently bereaved
• Provides the family of the deceased with an increased level of privacy during a most difficult time
• Only prevents telemarketing calls from being made. Other calls would not be affected
• Is seen by industry, privacy bodies and the information commissionaire’s office as an excellent way to reduce calls to distressed family members.
